Ava Valianti is a singer- songwriter from Newbury, Massachusetts, whose new song, Wishing Well, has just been released. It is a track that will leave you feeling warm with its soft, soothing and quite cosy qualities. It is memorable, original and highlights the capabilities of this young musician spectacularly.
The first aspect of the song that has to be spoken about is Ava’s vocal range. It displays her incredible talent for singing, showing a strong voice that is also velvety and angelic. There are inflections that she adds to certain words, which make her abilities even more obvious. It also gives the impression that she is putting a lot of effort into her singing and feels passionate about making her voice sound the best it can. She certainly does this, impressively hitting higher notes towards the end of the track. The way she does this is with a beautifully softly spoken sound that is enchanting. If you don’t get goosebumps, you need to listen to it again.
There is a constant strumming pattern on a guitar that plays gently behind Ava’s voice. The only time we don’t hear this is during a silence at around the two minute mark, as the song glides into the second verse. All instruments cut out momentarily, isolating her voice before coming back in again. With more emphasis on the instruments upon their return, the track sounds louder and fuller. It gives it momentum and a more powerful sound, but still doesn’t detract from the beauty that is Ava’s voice.
The bridge section within the song is where we hear the title of the song, Wishing Well, more than ever. This makes it feel like the most important part of the song, repeating the words more frequently, having only heard it mentioned once before. There is also the feel of it building up to something big only for it then to lead into the quieter ending. Just when you think the track will finish with the titular words, it comes back in with a final few lines, in the same format of the verses. A final taste of this brilliant composition.
Wishing Well is nearly six minutes of pure talent on display and drums up excitement for Ava Valianti’s debut EP which is coming out next year. Despite being young her voice exudes maturity beyond her years. In no time at all, she is sure to become a big name with a fully developed sound that is completely her own.
