WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM BRANDON BING – AWAYSTEAD

We head across to the USA for this latest single review, as Nashville country artist Brandon Bing returns with new single, Awaystead.

The Pearl Jam-esque riff to open really sets the mood for another fierce offering from “country music’s underground outlaw”. His unique mix of grunge and country once again shine here, combining to create a brilliantly gritty track in which the best of both genres shine through.

Despite the many elements which Bing packs into his sound to give it a boost, at its core Awaystead has all those classic Southern US components present. There is a undeniable rawness which he exudes in all of his track, a refusal to conform which gives his sound a real rebellious edge. It is perhaps described best by Bing himself as “No polish. No filter. Just real-life shit.”

As with any self respecting country track, Awaystead’s biggest attraction is in its lyrical strength. A tale of breakups and their aftermaths in small town bars, it mixes the heartfelt with the abrasive with his trademark storytelling style. In true southern style his songwriting beams with honesty and a real down-to-earth realism which lets you feel a real connection to him, even the first time hearing his music.

Awaystead is the latest step on what seems to be a pathway without limits for Bing, as he continues to pave his own path with is unashamedly uncommon sound. Whatever he produces he does it with a bold confidence, and unwavering energy. We look forward to hearing where he takes it next
