WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM CAMENS – CONFETTI & KALASHNIKOVS

British band Camens is back with an indie-pop song intriguingly titled “Confetti & Kalashnikovs”. After “Cynical” earlier this year, this new release serves as a second preview of Camens’ upcoming debut album ‘WORK/LIFE/BALANCE’.

Behind the name Camens, we find four talented individuals hailing from Stoke-On-Trent. Scott Powell on bass and lead vocals, Luke Brightmore on drums and backing vocals, James Corbishley on lead guitar, and Josh Egan handling rhythm and backing vocals. Together, they bring a dynamic mix of skills and passion to create the distinctive sound that defines the band.

“Confetti & Kalashnikovs” surely grabs our attention from the very first note – or even from its name I should say. As it starts with a powerful guitar intro, we are immediately drawn in with an infectious energy and the singer’s irresistible voice.

While the anthemic track unfolds, we are greeted by a catchy chorus and playful lyrics that explore the ups and downs of relationships with refreshing honesty.

At first glance, the juxtaposition of ‘confetti’ and ‘kalashnikovs’ may seem offbeat but within the context of the song, it should be taken as a parallel between the complexities of love and war. Moreover, with this track, the band manages to balance pop sensibilities with genuine emotion and Powell’s vocals are no stranger to that. It is also a great reminder of the best 00s bands with a playful take on some serious contradictions – which is sure to make some of us feel nostalgic.

In addition to the upcoming album release, Camens is looking ahead to a busy Spring of live shows with a UK release tour already lined up for May.
