Chris Erasmus brings us ‘Shotgun’, a smooth, roaring country number. His powerful, emotive voice is transformative and almost teleports his audience to his world under the baking sun and wild west.
Erasmus was born and raised in the beautiful wilds of Zimbabwe and South Africa, where he honed his country spirit. His vibrant life experiences honed his excellent sound. Chris’ classical training ensures his tracks are of the best quality. A true earworm of a track that has a melody that takes root in the back of your mind for days. Roaring guitars, energetic backing vocals, and Erasmus’ own timbre perfectly blend for an Americana single.
‘Shotgun’ tackles the motion of making peace with decisions, and upon self reflection. Erasmus pulls courage within himself to seek out his own power. To push forward, despite being tangled in the web of a difficult relationship. However, he is learning himself the importance of practising patience and nurturing emotional growth. Talking about the song himself, Chris mentions “It’s about when you get to the point in a relationship or interaction where you just wanna explode, but instead you’re done – you just walk out instead”.
There is a sense of vulnerability, and honesty that comes through in this single, similarly to Erasmus’ previous 2024 singles ‘Coal Train To New York’ and ‘Outrider’. This year is giving nothing but catchy tunes and ringing bells of success for Chris. His 2019 Billboard Chart track ‘Fires’ made big waves. He has kept his audience on their toes with high anticipation for each release. We for certain cannot wait to see more of what this year brings for Chris Erasmus.
