We review the new single from Common Goldfish – Feel The Fuzz

This debut single from London artist Common Goldfish lives up to its name spectacularly, presenting warm, fuzzy synth-funk beats which full you with an uplifting sense of glee.

Inspired by some of the many weird and wonderful emerging sounds from his ‘90s south London upbringing, Feel The Fuzz packs an irresistible amount of nostalgic groove that instantly transports you from the grey dreary skies of post-pandemic Britain and into a sun drenched land of optimism.

The sounds Common Goldfish brings together build wonderfully on this track, resulting in a sound which is both sophisticated, and as previously mentioned, hugely nostalgic. The real kicker which gives this track a unique edge is the blend of old and new, with the modern production bringing this well trodden sound forward to a place where it feels perfectly at home in the twenty-first century.

When speaking of the release of his debut single after his brief but already successful live career around London, he describes the sentiment of this track as “We only lead one life, Feel the Fuzz is about helping people see that they should value their experiences over materials and not always seek the easy options in life”, siting his own decision to pursue his passion, and it encapsulates that mindset perfectly.

On one hand it is a fun look back on some bygone sounds, created with beautiful craftmanship, but on the other hand it is much more; a track full of one of music’s most important ingredients, hope. This is someone to keep an eye on very closely, as he has just announced himself with the vigour and passion of someone who is going to go a long, long way.
