This cynical new track from the Nottingham indie-rockers Content Provider balances bleakness with a satisfying catchy rhythm to create a wonderfully Orwellian piece of storytelling.
A eerie dystopian tale of your life being sold for advertising and AI after you’ve died, Organ Doner paints a terrifyingly chilling picture of where our society is heading. With the vibe of a series of Black Mirror condensed down into three minutes, this track fills you with dread whilst simultaneously making you want to hit play and listen again.
Lifting the mood from the harrowing ideas of our future presented are the beautifully bright indie riffs which sit behind it. Providing the perfect counter piece to the lyrics, the jangly sounds just push away some of that darkness away to create quite a strange atmosphere when all put together.
The novelistic qualities in the lyrics and the storytelling are what give this track its biggest strength. Its great to hear lyrics about personal experience, but perhaps even more difficult to create a tale like this and set it so wonderfully to music. It hooks you in with its ideas, and the music, although also impressive, simply backs it up.
This is, said basically, a masterclass in songwriting, and one that needs to be heard. Take a listen below.
