Copper Lungs first release of the year is titled ‘Electric Lives’ and it’s a track that moves away from their usual rockier roots. Whilst straying from your typical sound isn’t always successful, this looks like it could be a very good move for the band.
Electric Lives is literally the epitome of fun. From the get go there is a modern indie pop vibe that just has you in high spirits instantly. The song sounds slightly muffled at the beginning then bursts into life, welcoming you into the lightheartedness and fun nature of the track, not at all taking itself too seriously. It’s upbeat and it’s got great energy.
It also has an incredible production value, the quality of the song being absolutely top shelf which really helps the easy listening aspect of the track. It is a song that will appeal to a lot of people just because it is interesting and thoroughly enjoyable, definitely a track that would be played repeatedly on the radio to no-one’s disappointment.
The song is quite fast paced, not giving you a lot of time with each section, but that just gives you an excuse to listen to it again so you can appreciate each part. It’s very catchy and only gets catchier with each re listen though, consider yourself warned.
The vocals are effortlessly brilliant and fit the general vibe of the track really well, keeping things light and bright. As do the more electronic parts of the track that once again hit home the pattern of how lively and fun it is. The title isn’t overused in the track, appearing in the bridge section, which makes said bridge section that bit more captivating and really serve a purpose. Basically, everything about this track just works.
If you are a fan of someone like The 1975, Electric Lives is definitely for you. If you aren’t, there’s a high chance this song will still be for you, because it is guaranteed to get you moving and put a smile on your face. A cracking track from Copper Lungs that adds a bit of sparkle to the world of music.
