Double Yellows

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM DOUBLE YELLOWS – GONNA BE ALRIGHT!

Wigan power trio Double Yellows return with their new track “Gonna Be Alright!”, a punchy slice of indie rock that stays true to their high-energy, no-frills approach.

Made up of Matty, Calum and Liam, the band have built a reputation around big riffs, tight rhythms and powerful live shows. “Gonna Be Alright!” continues in that lane. It is upbeat, driven and clearly written with a crowd in mind.

From the start, the instrumentation is solid. The backline feels tight and confident, guitars carry a familiar indie-rock ccrunch and everything sits exactly where it should. It’s not reinventing the genre but it doesn’t need to. It knows what it wants to be and commits to it.

Vocally, the verses are straightforward and clean, but the real lift comes in the chorus. Bringing in two voices instead of one gives the hook more weight and depth, making it feel bigger and more anthemic.

The title says it all.. “Gonna Be Alright!” leans into optimism. It has that reassuring, arms-around-your-mates kind of energy that would translate well live, especially in a packed room where everyone’s shouting the chorus back at the band.

While it might not completely separate itself from the wider indie-rock scene, it’s a solid release. The gradual ending is a nice touch too. Instead of cutting off abruptly, it fades out in a way that leaves a slight sense of longing, like the band could’ve kept going for another round.

Overall, “Gonna Be Alright!” does exactly what it sets out to do: energetic, melodic rock with heart, built for the stage. For fans of indie tracks with grit and ambition, Double Yellows are clearly a band on the rise.
