Frankie Dobson, a Yorkshire based singer-songwriter, has just released his newest single Better Luck Next Time and what a belter it is!
The indie singer has supported the likes of The K’s, The Clause, Bad Nerves, Sundara Karma, and many more – and this was all before he even started releasing music. Frankie is immensely talented, the guitar work and vocals are fire in every single one of his tracks.
The upbeat sound to Better Luck Next Time is addictive, it’s most definitely a song that you will want on repeat for many days. The tune has an element of the early indie scene with hints of a Johnny Marr guitar rhythm, but nonetheless Frankie has made this tune his own. The drum work is also mega. It ties the song together nicely, building up in the places the drums need to then being hard-hitting and giving the song that perfect indie-rock edge.
The song sounds extremely personal to Frankie with lyrics such as ‘forget your dreams and go inside, better luck next time’, it seems that something in his life happened and almost stopped him from reaching for his goals, a lot of people will resonate with this and potentially feel inspired by Frankie releasing this track.
Frankie states that this is ‘arguably my most vulnerable song’, which gives us more insight to what the song is about. With Frankie being able to open up through music shows what type of person he is. The respect he is going to get from many listeners will rise, especially with a following of near 3,000 on social media, just shows that people already have fallen in love with him!
