HOLY COVES - HOLE

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM HOLY COVES – HOLE

Welsh rock band Holy Coves have released their first single of 2026, titled Hole. Following a career of several album releases, this track is another work of art that fans will definitely appreciate once more.

There’s no messing about with ‘Hole’, launching straight in with what would become apparent as the hook of the track. From the get go you can tell that it’s got a repetitive nature, using the lyrics ‘how does it feel’ several times within that opening. This carries throughout most of the song, swapping between the sections with little variation in instrumentation, and to an extent the lyrics with the catchiest parts being used again and again.

It’s quite hypnotic, particularly as it has this ability to build up but in a way that feels like it is going nowhere but also like it’s leading to a great finale. Because not a lot really changes, especially not until after the instrumental break, it flows along nicely, certainly not in a boring way, because it’s got such an infectious energy. And this feels intentional, because it actually does build up to the end, with the harmonising leading the song out but it’s gradual and subtle. Or at least it feels that way because the song is consistently brilliant.

It’s quite hard to tell which part of the song is the chorus, as the hook, which the track begins with and uses several times throughout, feels like the centre point of the song.

However the chorus often involves the title of the track, particularly if said title is mentioned on multiple occasions, so it seems like it could be either part. All you really know as a listener is that it’s a great song, and regardless of what each section is, it all works together, creating this sound that just gets it perfectly right.
