Londoners iC1s follow up 2025’s much anticipated debut album with this equally impressive new single, Outta Reach.
After the ferocious energy of What Took You So Long?, their first LP which landed back in October, Outta Reach retains that punch while showcasing a newfound maturity. In the past we have heart a sound which leant on its energy successfully, hardly ever relenting from being an in your face riot. What they have done here is maintained that rawness that pulls you in, but contained it into a more well polished package.
Their story really doesn’t follow a standard linear narrative. A band which cut their teeth and started to gain attention in the early 2010s, but following a legal dispute their album was shelved and the gang split. Lucky for us, more than ten years on, things were able to resume, and finally that album was shared with us just a matter of months ago.
The biggest difference we see in Outta Reach compared to the those tracks written on their original run is a real coming of age. Lyrically, as expected it feels much more mature and portrays infinitely more storytelling and emotion. Whilst it does perhaps sacrifice a little of that youthful swagger, it certainly hasn’t lost its rawness which has come to define their sound.
For a band which has steadily built their popularity over a number of years this follow up to last years renewed success was always going to be key, and they have smashed it out of the park. After a difficult and drawn out route to reaching this point, it feels like this is finally their time, and they are ready to grab it with both hands.
