With a headline tour scheduled for Spring 2025, Isla Rico have started the year in promising fashion with the release of ‘Waiting Room’. A quintessential indie track, the trio from Warrington have provided us with a groovy number that radiates summer vibes and immediately triggers the nostalgia from festival season.
A song that feels like it could be in any FIFA soundtrack from the last 10 years, ‘Waiting Room’ just has that feel-good factor we’ve all come to expect from indie music. A perfect blend of upbeat guitar melodies, effective drumming and the very definition of indie vocals, this track is a great start to a huge year for Isla Rico. Though I’m not entirely sure the lyrics communicate the same feeling of nostalgia that the music does, there is a noticeable sense of optimism within the words that helps to establish the mood of the song.
Albeit a tad basic, ‘Waiting Room’ is one of those songs that manages to make you crack a smile and reminisce on good times, whilst also looking forward to better things ahead. It’s clear to see why these guys have played some of the biggest festivals in the UK, totalling over 100,000 Spotify streams and getting plays on the BBC. Classic, catchy indie that it’s almost impossible to hate.
Alongside their headline tour, Isla Rico claim to have an ‘exciting release’ coming in either March or April and given the success of ‘Waiting Room’, it’d be silly not to keep an eye out for whatever it is they have in store for us.
