JACOB REDDY DOING IT WRONG

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM JACOB REDDY

“Doing It Wrong” is the latest addition to Lancashire’s Jacob Reddy.

Describing his style as “GritPop”, Jacob says he aims to create powerful, anthemic indie rock with catchy melodies and passionate, sing-along choruses. Jacob is climbing up the ranks, bit by bit and already has an impressive back catalogue of music, as well as being recognized as one of XS Manchester’s “20 To Watch in 2024″.

“Doing It Wrong” instantly goes in with an impressive backing riff and accompanying vocals, making his presence known. It doesn’t need a build, it’s an instant hook with a lot of energy and the sort of track that will make you want to get up and dance.

The lyrics are easy to follow and have a lot of passion in them, after a couple of minutes I was already picking it up and singing along, as well as enjoying myself. The guitar solo in the middle is absolutely stunning and really connects the song together.

Jacob’s vocals are really consistent throughout, he’s kept it simple by keeping this way but that is by no means a criticism, it works and it works brilliantly.

The artwork is brilliant, you can see Jacob dosed in different coloured paint, looking a bit disgruntled, the only criticism there is I’m not keen on the font, personally, but it matches the vibe of the song and gives you a great indication of what’s to come.

Overall, this is a much rockier track than I’ve heard from Jacob before and I think he’s nailed it with “Indie Gritpop”, I really enjoyed the rawness and the energy of it, he uses the guitar, drums and bass to his advantage and it has all pulled together beautifully.
