WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM JAKE SOWERBY

“All Night Long” is the debut single from Scotland-based Jake Sowerby, featuring American artist Matty Beats.

Jake describes the tune as “an anthem for the summer” and adds that “It’s about hope when life gets too much and leaves you feeling down, a song to get you up and dancing again on summer nights, about love, hopes and dreams, a feeling you never want to end.”

It starts off with a mellow guitar twang and I was expecting an indie-esque twang, although what you get is an effect that’s more mellow-pop.

It’s quite fast-paced, which I wasn’t expecting, almost like a softer rap, it works but I would like to hear an acoustic version of this slowed down, as I think this would suit it better, but that’s my opinion, the style that Jake is going for still works.

There is also the interjection of another voice, that I assume is Matty Beats, given what Jake has done with the song, that works really well, as doe the point when he suddenly stops and talks rather than sings or raps, that ties it together really nicely.

The lyrics reflect Jake’s vision of the song well, his approach to the style whilst it might not be what I was expecting, is refreshing and it grew on me the more I listened to it.

Overall it’s different, a good experiment of different genres and it is a tune you can listen to whilst relaxing or going about your day, it would be interesting to see what the music video to this would look like.
