Contemporary blues artist Jeff Lefroy treats us to the latest instalment of his hectic 2025 with this new single, A Little Less Grey. We reported back in March his ongoing plans to release a new single every six weeks for the entirety of the year, and he has continued to hold up his end of the bargain.
The fourth release of this year long project, Lefroy breaks away slightly from his tried and tested sound to produce a slower, tear jerker of a track absolutely brimming with raw emotion. A Little Less Grey explores the loss of one of the artists close friends. The melancholic mood that naturally comes through with that subject, however, is combatted by celebration of what they had, rather than what they lost.
As we are used to with Lefroy, we once again see those wide ranging influences all pulled in together. His well travelled journey through different bands and even countries of residence has given him a truly enchanting ability to combine sounds. What is still present though, as always, is the wonderfully reflective nature of his lyricism bringing his blues roots right back to the forefront.
With A Little Less Grey, Lefroy has proved this promise of releases throughout the year is far from just a gimmick. He will not just be churning out rehashed versions of the same thing repeatedly. This has just proved what those of us who have followed him already knew, this is an artist capable of truly impressive depth, and he’s inspired to show it over and over again.
