WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM JORDAN PAUL ROUSSEAU & DEAN RIVERS – THE NEED

This sombre new track witness the collaboration for the first time of two London artists, Jordan Paul Rousseau & Dean Rivers. Having already experienced a plethora of roles, from ghostwriter to bandmember, Rousseau’s talents gel perfectly with Rivers in their eerie creation, The Need.

A tremendously emotion filled piece, they use distorted, distant vocals which sit atop very spacious instrumentals. What they create feels like it is more than about the music itself, but it instead brings to the fore their ability to be exceptionally emotive through the aura their sound creates.

One of the many paths Rousseau has trodden previously is that of independent film scoring, and that shines through into his music. Their sound is definitely cinematic, allowing the listener to get lost in its tones, and drift away in whatever imagery it conjures up as it sways so wistfully in its sound.

The Need is a track which lends itself to being very personal to everyone who hears it. The composition of their music and its ability to really engulf your senses and allow you to get lost within it will no doubt mean everyone takes away something different from it the first time you tune in. In that sense, it is a piece which really needs to be heard to understand. Lets hope this maiden collaboration is not the last.
