WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM KWEKU BANDIT – NOWHERE
Draft: Kweku Bandit has returned in 2024 with new, exciting single ‘Nowhere’. Accompanied by a cinematic music video he’s showing us his journey from humble beginnings to newfound success.
The new single gives a completely different perspective on this Afro-Beats artist as he leans into a more instrumental sound, adding piano and strings to his track to make for an entirely fresh listen. It also connects back to his roots in Ghana, where he spent a lot of his childhood and it has contributed a lot of influence to his R&B sound.
After initially recording under the name Kay K, he released his first mixtape #FreeKayk, but took a step away from music and returned as Kweku Bandit. Upon releasing ‘Illusions’ which garnered both press and radio attention, ‘The Bad Boy of Afro-beats’ has really knuckled down and committed to his work.
While the London-based artist has labeled Ofori Amponsa, Vybz Kartel, Burna Boy, Chis Brown, and Young Thug as his main inspirations, he has also had a huge musical impact from his little brother, Kweku described how “When I came out of prison the 2nd time, my younger brother showed me some stuff he had recorded, and it blew me away. I started doing it from there and got lost in it.”. He’s making a huge effort with this turnaround and his 2024 theme is motivation, he is evidently working hard, marketing and recording, and undoubtedly is making waves in his genre.
