Singer-Songwriter, Lauren Claire Townley has released her new track, April Fool, her second single of the year and a certified bop. It has very traditional country vibes, bright, light and floaty in every way. You definitely want to don a cowboy hat and boots, all whilst with a big smile on your face due to the summery tone and feel good nature.
Imagine a girly road trip, this song would be your anthem. And this is all largely due to the lyrics which tells the story of young love that gives it a cutesy undertone.
The song feels pretty subtle, the words being quite simple in favour of telling the aforementioned sweet tale and the instrumentation being on the repetitive side.
This really helps illuminate those catchy country tones and highlights the storytelling of the lyrics, which gives the song its depth.
It is a track that certainly leans into the older stylings of the genre, using recognisable qualities like genuine emotion and a relatable subject matter, all whilst a jangly guitar plays over the top.
However, Lauren Claire Townley has managed to make it feel more modern and is helping to make country music feel just as relevant as it always has been, especially for a UK audience whom she will be performing to on tour over the next few months.
