LISSY TAYLOR NEW SINGLE

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM LISSY TAYLOR

The new single from Stoke-based Lissy Taylor is, in a word, punchy.

It’s called ‘Life Changing’ and listening to the lyrics carefully, it appears to tell the story of someone at a crossroads and figuring out their destination, in whatever form, it could be very relatable for some.

Lissy says that the inspiration for the song came from home…

“Being from Stoke inspired me to write this song. There are so many brilliant people from Stoke and great things that happen that go unnoticed.

There’s also so many people that go through struggles, myself included, and this song champions pulling yourself through to the other side.”

The energy is brought from the backing track from the get-go and there’s no escape from it.
The guitar packs a punch instantly and hooks you in, with it bringing a build-up to the vocals.

When the vocals kicked in, I was pleasantly surprised, I was expecting heavy to match the guitar, however, Lissy’s vocals are soft and despite a heavier backing, they keep up and balance with it well.

I see this being a good opener for one of the band’s gigs one day, as it brings a lot of energy and could hype up the crowd.

It’s also very consistent, which, in my opinion, is hard to craft on a track, but this demonstrates how it should be done, I think changing tempo midway through would have ruined it, so I’m glad it sticks to its guns throughout.

Saying that however, the ending isn’t as abrupt as the beginning, this isn’t a bad thing, it simmered down well after a blood-pumping few minutes and if anything, left me wanting more.

It’s short but sweet, but overall, a very good track and I look forward to what follows from Lissy Taylor.
