WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM LIZZIE HILL – DIRTY LAUNDRY

Over the years, many wonderful things have come from Cornwall and now, with the release of her latest single ‘Dirty Laundry’ we can add Lizzie Hill to that list.

The teenager from Mevagissey has the kind of delightful voice the world needs. Think Harriet Wheeler from The Sundays or Frente!’s Angie Hart and you won’t be too far wrong.

Lizzie’s press release states the track reflects her influences of Holly Humberstone and The 1975 in its shift from her acoustic background to a more electronic vibe but I think that somewhat understates just how vibrant and fresh sounding this self-penned track is.

‘Dirty Laundry’ is three minutes of beautiful dreamy pop, full of idealistic teenage love angst and whilst I’ve no doubt anyone could have made a pretty good go of such a great song, in the hands of Lizzie Hill, or rather with the voice of Lizzie Hill, it is something quite exceptional.

Credit must also go to producer Ewan Dowling for the track’s luxurious, almost ambient feel. Every single aspect of the soundscape perfectly compliments Lizzie’s voice, there is clearly something exceptional in this team and I’m sure it won’t be too long before the big labels come fishing in Mevagissey.
