Psychedelic-rock project Lola have brought that 60s and 70s rock back to the modern day. I Came Here to Conquer is their newest single, and what an amazing track it is. Are you impassioned for what’s instore from Lola?
Manchester based Zach Davison is the mastermind behind Lola. Being part of numerous other bands, Zach has made his own project and is absolutely killing it. If this is how his first single sounds, I am more than excited for what is to come. There are multiple influences I can hear in this song alone. From T-rex with the vocals, and a sort of an Oasis-y instrumental, it feels like the ultimate rock summer anthem. Definitely a song that should be played on repeat.
I Came Here to Conquer is just the first single that Lola has released. With a slow tempo and the greatness of rock’n’roll, Lola has created a track so mesmerising, it feels like you’re floating on a warm sunny day – leaving all worries behind. The electric guitar throughout this track is what grabbed my attention straight away. It just sounds so right for this song, as well as in the introduction there’s a shimmer of a tambourine making the song sound heavenly.
The vocals in the song are very monotone and ultimately do work in the song, but could have been a little bit more upbeat like the song is. That being said they compliment the track well, but this could be something to work on. The psychedelic side to the song is very prominent, with the drums so dreamy and so in time the whole song just flows flawlessly.
Lola has much more to offer and I guarantee you will not be disappointed by Zach’s talent, so get streaming I Came Here to Conquer and immerse yourself in a psychedelic-rock world before it’s too late!
