WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM LOVELOST – LOSING EVERYTHING

Bristol-based quarter LOVELOST is back with a powerful new track titled “LOSING EVERYTHING”. Known for their blend of nostalgic old-school emo with modern alternative rock elements, their new track is no exception.

“LOSING EVERYTHING” is an exploration of trauma and its long-term effects.  The track reflects a sense of loss and the ensuing emotional fallout, capturing the raw anger and frustration of being scarred by someone else’s actions.

The lyrics of “LOSING EVERYTHING” delve into a narrative of mental anguish and the desperate search for stability. Lines like “I’m losing my head and I’ve lost all my friends. I’m starting to talk in my sleep again” and “Everything is falling apart, and all these memories I’d forgotten, even when I’m dreaming, I can still hear you screaming”  show someone grappling with the echoes of past trauma.

The song’s chorus captures the struggle of reclaiming one’s life from the grip of past experiences: “I’m taking back the life you stole from me, I’ll testify, you can’t deny it’s imminent. There’s a cold wind coming in and it brings the locust with it.

Musically, the instrumentation supports the song’s intense themes, with heavy guitar riffs and driving drumbeats that mirror the chaotic emotional landscape described in the lyrics.

The track’s structure, featuring crescendos and quieter introspective moments, mirrors the ebb and flow of coping with the trauma described. This dynamic range keeps us engaged and provides a cathartic release as the song builds to its powerful conclusion.
