Lowtones

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM LOWTONES – YOU’VE GOT ME

Lowtones are the kind of band that makes an impression from the very beginning. Their debut single “You’ve Got Me” wastes no time pulling you in. I’m obsessed with how the vocals hit instantly, no slow intro or build-up, just straight into it. That choice alone makes it stand out.

Lowtones are a groove-driven duo from Sheffield and their debut single “You’ve Got Me” feels like a dive into the after-hours energy of a 70s nightclub. It’s got style and a kind of smoky confidence that pulls you in right away. The production is warm and gritty at the same time, sitting somewhere between indie rock and modern soul.

The vocals from Connor Berry are cool and unfussy, carried by Flynn Hudson-Dean’s tight basslines and steady rhythm. It feels like a track that came together naturally but still knows exactly what it’s doing. You can hear hints of their influences, there’s some Jungle in the groove, a bit of Tame Impala in the atmosphere and that sharp edge you get from Queens of the Stone Age.

The lyrics are simple, almost hypnotic: “You’ve got me / I know you know / You’ve got me…”
They loop like a disco mantra, giving the track a trance-y, late-night feel. It works well for the mood, though the ending gets a little repetitive after a few loops.

As a debut, this is seriously confident. “You’ve Got Me” sets the mood for what’s coming next and certainly leaves you wanting more.
