WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM MARKY WILDTYPE

Edinburgh-hailing Marky Wildtype is a multifaceted singer/songwriter, instrumentalist and producer who’s spent countless hours sharpening the diverse edge of his musical talents. With multiple singles and an acclaimed album under his belt, Wildtype is gearing up for the next phase of his musical career with a second album to grace 2024.

March rolls on the release of our first taste from this endeavour, Tell Me Again; a heavy, moody tune that battles with lyrical themes of narcissism.

MARKY WILDTYPE

It kicks off with a totally uncompromising bassline – that came to Wildtype in a dream – covered in fuzz and backed by tough resounding drums. A spooky synth line accentuated by shrill guitar frequencies then slices the guttural fusion as the drums round off with splashy cymbal hits. This weighty intro sets a grumbling scene before the vocals take hold.

The verse recoils, once again emphasising that insistent bassline while Wildtype delivers his snarky and introspective lyrics in sepulchral tones. It grows again, smoothly transitioning into the chorus where his explicit attitude devours the track. The whole affair swells in a ritualistic rage, burrowing us listeners deep into his mindset. Besides how Tell Me Again feels, its tight production is a credit to Wildtype’s self-made talents.

At the two-minute mark, the track pulls back into a slightly comical break where Marky addresses his subject with profanities, before coming back around in a synth-led rise into a final explosive chorus.

Marky Wildtype has hit his thematical nail on the head with this first single, leaving listeners with much to look forward to for the album’s drop.
