We review the new single from Megan Wyn – Better Of You

This week sees Anglesey’s Megan Wyn return with her highly anticipated, second single, ‘Better Of You’. The single follows on from her January 2021 debut, ‘Polaroid’, which allowed Megan to play endless amounts of gigs and festivals up and down the country.

‘Better Of You’ which was inspired by the way that movies tend to portray a toxic male love interest, features optimistic, bright instrumentation that is propelled by a catchy guitar riff, that juxtaposes the heart-wrenching, open lyrics that allow the listener to put themselves in the position of the track’s protagonist.

The new single was recorded at Orange Recording Studio, in Penmaenmawr, where Megan’s first single was also recorded, and produced by her previous producer, Russ Hayes, who helped to bring her vision to life.

The release of ‘Better Of You’ follows on from a jam-packed 2021 for the singer-songwriter, seeing her support the likes of Trampolene, The K’s and Andrew Cushin, amongst many more, and become an integral part of This Feelings charity single, ‘All Together Now’.

Telling a story that many who have been in a similar situation will find relatable, ‘Better Of You’, is a brutally honest track that allows Megan Wyn to return on top of her game. Not falling a victim to the curse of the second release may be some feat, however ‘Better Of You’ allows Megan Wyn to spotlight her lyrical and instrumental talent with ease.
