Billboard-charting artist Michelle Kash’s single Gravity has received a makeover by LA-producer Stash Konig. With EDM-infused tensions and a racing bassline, the track was transformed into a sensual, yet addictive piece for the after-hours dance floor.
Gravity was a stand-alone single from the rising indie-pop singer released last year. Exploring themes of desire, confusion and self-reflection in relationships, the synth-driven pop is a slow-burner, it helped curate Michelle’s unique aesthetics of a “dimly lit room with torn lace”, while the song itself highlights her smokey vocals on top of the thick, textured instrumentals.
The electronic-infused synths towards the end of Gravity slightly hints at the electronic potential of the song, and Stash Konig was the one who understood the task and executed it perfectly. His rework added a mysterious appeal to the track, blending dark psytrance into soulful synth-pop. The track became a hypnotic, alluring dance track that creeps on you with the strong bass and progressive synths.
With Konig’s reimagining of the soundscape, the remix gains a new dimension in storytelling. However it retains the track’s emotional depth. The pulsating beats and deep house instead further complicates the narrative and makes the track even more intriguing.
This is another hit added to Michelle Kash’s catalogue of remixes, as Gravity (Stash Konig Remix) proves the singer-songwriter’s desires to continue experimenting with her sound, and it is with excitement to see what she would bring to the table next.
