MILFORD PLACE

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM MILFORD PLACE – LATELY

Short and sweet but packing an ethereal punch, Leeds-based Milford Place return with their latest single, Lately.

Like a delicate teardrop, Milford Place’s guitar-eccentric sound delves into jangle pop whose swan song of the 2010s looks to be spreading its wings once more.

The fading vocal sounds are crisp and merge well with the ringing atmospheric notes of the lead guitar. At the same time, Lately is a song packed with energy as the bass and drums thump out throughout the intervals adding an unexpected vibe to this indie styling.

The overall piece is as much positive as it is absorbing with the overall effects and rhythms and whilst the piece focuses a lot of instrumental moments in its clocking-in time of two and a half minutes, its chorus is a winning stand-out piece ready to burst at the seams.

Milford Place should congratulate itself on achieving such mesmerizing sounds and specifically upbeat choruses in such a short song.

It’s a delightful nod towards an ever-evolving indie sound that respects its late 80s elders and swims with the love of guitar tones and effects.
