MISTY DRINX

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM MISTY DRINX – YOU’RE SO COOL

London based songwriter and producer Misty Drinx has sprung back into the game with a new single. It’s quirky, stylish, and oozing an unapologetic groove.

You’re So Cool is the second track on Drinx’s roster, embodying the unparalleled sound that he has crafted from a handful of iconic influences and unique production elements. It starts with a wavy electronic piano backed by soulful bass and slick cross-stick drums. This clean instrumentation is complimented by a suspended tone, making for an irresistibly cool rhythm.

Much like its rhythmic counterpart, Drinx’s vocals sit drenched in rich character. His inspirations of 80s funk and soul seep through as he sings lyrics with a thematically modern twist, highlighting his one-of-a-kind attitude.

The chorus is where this track really becomes its own entity. Its grooving accompaniment levels up with the tasteful addition of a harmonica, and Daft Punk-esque vocal techniques to underscore the vocoder stacked top line. It’s fun and campy with exquisitely tight production, and there’s not much else quite like it.

This tune would be fitting on a lazy beach day mid-summer, where all you have to worry about is choosing the right soundtrack to catch scorching rays to.

Misty Drinx could be paving a way with his tailored sound here. It’s brimming with potential, and You’re So Cool may just be the tip of the iceberg.
