This new track from the Bradford four-piece sees them once again bring us a beautifully crafted song. Equally as hypnotic as any of their previous releases, they again nod towards the stateside sounds which inspired them with this poetic release.
Without sacrificing the gentleness we have come to expect from them, Goldrush does carry a slightly fuller sound. Again, you are drawn to the atmosphere of the song as a whole, with each seemingly stripped back element intertwining with each other to create a wonderfully harmonic finish.
The soft, echoing vocals rise barely above the jingling of the acoustic guitar, but they still manage to tell a tale of better days ahead in true Americana style. The storytelling, and especially the hope which is rooted within their lyrics, suits their style undeniably and is almost becoming their trademark at this point.
Without jumping out at you with ferocious rhythms, Goldrush still finds a way to be truly infectious. As the instruments sway gently behind the vocals you find yourself doing the same, each melodic line holding your full attention effortlessly the whole way through, conjuring up imagery of road trips in the sun, and leaving you feeling much happier than before you hit play.
This track is their best offering to date. It doesn’t stray too far from their comfort zone, but why would you need to when you create such alluring music whilst there? A strong return for them, and a sign of more to come.
