MOSS

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM MOSS – OPENER

Darlington electronic duo Moss are growing at a rapid rate in the northeast with a plethora of appearances on the horizon. They will be appearing at Stockton Calling to open up the Green Room and they’re playing at the Rift 3-dayer in Middlesborough over the May bank holiday weekend as they look to grow further in the northeast and beyond. Falling on the same weekend is the release of their latest track ‘Opener’.

I think they should do as the title says and put this as the opening track of their sets because this is a statement piece. It tells you that Moss are here to command the stage and leave an impact on the crowd. ‘Opener’ takes the opposite direction to their previous E.P. which was softer and more of a Trip Hop style.

This track embraces the chaos with soaring vocals gliding over intense synthesisers. The beats crash in your ears as Bee’s vocals guide you through the rhythms before erupting back into huge walls of sound that are gritty and determined.

The echoing of the “settle down” as the track calms to an equilibrium of tense synths and ghostly vocals bring you into the eye of the storm to end the track. This new energy Moss has adopted will serve them well in this track and is one that will get people dancing.
