Almost a year on from their latest studio release, Muddy Elephant have dropped an emphatic single just in time for summer, titled ‘Picture Of You’.
Far from the similarly titled track by The Cure, this four-piece from Manchester have delivered something big once again.
Bursting into life straight from the off, an infectious lead-guitar and some equally inspiring drums set the scene before the vocals join the party in an ever-dramatic fashion. Making an excellent call back to the Circa Waves / Sundara Karma era of guitar driven indie, Muddy Elephant are keeping the spirit of sticky floors and MD 20/20 alive with ‘Picture Of You’.
Keeping the energy levels high throughout, frontman Sam erupts in the closing moments, taking his vocal performance through the gears and bringing the song to an emphatic close. The band sounds tight. The vocals are excellent. It’s perfect for a summer in the fields.
After support spots with acts as strong as The Hunna and sold out shows at venues such as The Cavern Club, there doesn’t seem to be a ceiling for these guys. Capitalising on a ‘fan-fuelled movement’, Muddy Elephant will be a name you hear again.
