When thinking of noisy rock-bands, Hartlepool wouldn’t exactly be the first place that comes to mind, but Northern Hospitality are emerging from the northern town like a storm.
‘Fading Out’ marks the ninth release of the band, and there’s no sign of their momentum slowing anytime soon. Fronted by Gaz Price, his lyrics capture the moment you finally decide to leave behind the things that have been weighing you down. Backed by the tight-knit lineup of Georgia Smith (drums), Nico Mouissie (bass), and Sean McCloskey (lead guitar), Fading Out is reminiscent of 90s Britpop and grunge throughout, blending modern indie-style chorus tones with punchy, intertwining riffs layered tightly over the driving rhythm section.
While short by today’s standards, the track hits hard with lyrics diving into the struggles of life’s changes and never quite being able to keep up with them. Even when the wall of heavy guitar drops out, stripping the song down to drums and bass with an intricate (but not quite overpowering) lead riff over the top, the song still feels completely engulfed in energy and power.
Having already shared stages with the likes of Feeder, Kaiser Chiefs, and Pete Doherty, Northern Hospitality are steadily cementing their place within the UK’s fast-rising and ever-growing rock scene. With a couple of shows lined up in the North East this Summer, the band’s 2026 has kicked off with a bang thanks to the release of their new single.
