OLIVIA BOOTH

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM OLIVIA BOOTH – I’M NOT YOURS

Olivia Booth has a new single, a bloody warning shot. I’m Not Yours is the kind of track that forces you to sit up straight whether you’re ready for it or not, dragging you into a story too many people wish wasn’t real, but absolutely needs shouting about. Coming straight out of Manchester with that fierce, unpolished honesty the city does better than anywhere, she turns a personal nightmare into an indie anthem carved out of grit, fear, fury, and ultimately, survival.

From the first line you can feel the tension in her voice — not melodrama, not theatre, but lived experience. It sits right on the edge of breaking, that tight, trembling power of someone refusing to be defined by someone else’s violence. There’s a rawness to it that cuts deep. This isn’t about losing a partner; it’s about losing your safety, your trust in a night out, your sense of control — and then clawing it back with your teeth.

The guitars shimmer with that icy indie sheen before roughing up into something angrier, something pulsing with fight rather than fear. The drums keep a steady heartbeat underneath, grounding the track in that “keep breathing, don’t fold” determination she’s spoken about. It’s clever without being pretentious, emotional without collapsing into sentimentality. She knows exactly what she’s doing.

The chorus leaves a mark — not explosive in a pop-banger way, but heavy, lingering, like the air shifts around it. You can almost imagine the silence of a live room when she hits it. It’s uncomfortable, and it’s meant to be. The connection to International Violence Against Women Day might be coincidence in timing, but thematically it hits with devastating relevance. Spiking and predatory behaviour are still shrugged off by too many people; Olivia doesn’t allow a second of dismissal here. She gives you the fear, the aftermath, and the defiance in the same breath.

The voice is there, the songwriting is there, the guts are definitely there, and the trajectory is only pointing one way. Manchester loves producing artists who turn pain into something electrifying, and Olivia’s absolutely next in that lineage. Nice one!!
