PAUL RYAN-LOST AT WAR

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM PAUL RYAN-LOST AT WAR

Birmingham based singer-songwriter Paul Ryan is gearing up to release his debut album, but not before fans have appreciated his latest single ‘Lost at War.’ A hauntingly warm track matched with his signature piercing vocals, ‘Lost at War,’ is not one to be overlooked.

The song begins with stunningly soft guitar strums before Ryan’s booming vocals cut through the effervescence of the guitar. On the surface, it’s such a simple track, but is beautifully reflective, making you take a step back to listen to the echoing vocals. I can imagine this track in 8D audio would be a sight (or sound) to behold.

Ryan then begins to slow down the plucking of his guitar, just slightly out of rhythm to the start of the track, and the stop-start nature works so well with the rest of the track that it’s difficult to not just replay that part over and over again. As ‘Lost at War,’ progresses, it tapers down from this warm and hazy record, to a more mellow and moody tone, and this shift in sound compliments the lyricism perfectly.

Speaking about the track, Ryan says “I wrote this while what was happening in Ukraine, and I can see how these news stories had an influence on the lyrical nature of what followed.

I felt it was dark and had a real atmosphere to it. I was already listening to Radiohead and the Manic Street Preachers around this time also.”

Paul Ryan has already been compared to that of lyrical music legends, and with the anticipation of his debut album, I’m sure it won’t be long until he’s vying to be among them himself
