Are you in need of a new indie rock anthem? If the answer is yes (and the answer is always yes) Revivalry has got you covered. The band’s most recent single release, titled Worth It will stand out at any gig, on a full length album and most importantly, will stand out upon first listen. It certainly did for me, and instant appreciation for a song is the definition of a top tier track.
Worth It is a composition full of energy; fast paced and brimming with musical brilliance. From the get go you know it’s going to be a good one, just from the built up intro. As the instrumentation gets added to, the song works up to an epic sounding opening. The song hasn’t even properly started at this point, literally only ten seconds in but Revivalry have made an impact in a way not every band can. The song has the ability to gradually garner you attention but in a way that makes it feel instant so you are immediately hooked.
The vocals have an almost gravelly undertone to them, assisting the already present realism and passion coating each word. They are authentic, not overly produced, and this really grounds the song and the band, giving them a relatable energy. The vocals don’t demand focus because they don’t have to, there’s a quality that just sticks out regardless.
The verses are simple and moderately quiet in contrast to the chorus, which when juxtaposed next to each other really makes the chorus pack a punch. That powerful chorus also means it gives the bridge a chance to stand out. Here the instrumentation is equally as low key as the verses, giving the vocals the chance to do a lot of work. Once again with that effortless feel, the tone in which everything is sung gains momentum, creating another build up, showing more and more emotion as it climaxes, eventually leading into the guitar solo.
And that guitar solo is an absolute masterpiece. Intricate, engaging, the pinnacle of the whole song. It feels like everything led up to that moment, and the pay off was well worth it. The track feels wholly complete and leaves any listener undeniably satisfied with what they’ve heard.
