Rossa Murray & the blowin' winds

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM ROSSA MURRAY AND THE BLOWIN’ WINDS – SAN FRANCISCO HAS HER NOW

With the turn of the season slowly creeping in on us, it’s officially time to revel in that feel-good Summer vibe, and Irish quartet Rossa Murray & the Blowin’ Winds may have just dropped the perfect track.  “San Francisco Has Her Now” is our latest preview of what’s to come on the band’s highly anticipated EP, and it’s oozing with spirit.

An atmospheric crescendo of rattlers and muted strings kicks the number off, before falling into skilfully strummed rhythm guitar that descends through its chords and rises back into itself, backed by a fitting percussive line-up. The inherently folk introduction feels like taking a deep exhale after holding your breath for a moment too long, enveloped in a calming groove of de ja vu inducing melodies.

Three minutes in, a climactic guitar solo acts as the emotive pinnacle of the song and then draws you back into the effortlessly catchy chorus where singer Rossa Murray gives his all, forcing you to feel the pride yet longing of losing someone you love to their dreams. It’s a combination of folk sounds with catchy surf-rock hooks that speak in an upbeat manner, but you can’t ignore the message of sacrifice that lies beneath.

“San Francisco Has Her Now” is the band’s second single from their upcoming EP “Who Really Wants to Get Clean – part 2”, released following sell-out shows in London, Dublin, Belfast, and loved hometown Liverpool. They continue to build hype through shows across the UK and Europe, which has fans eagerly awaiting the release.
