We review the new single from Samplehound – Evening Star

Released on August 13th, Rich Townsend aka the mind behind Samplehound is a real contender in the world of Ambient music. No stranger to the music industry, Rich retired from a career in the commercial world to create the music he’s always wanted to.

Back with vivid new single ‘Evening Star’, the new release comes across as breathtaking and able to guide your way through any worries.

Inspired by the beauty of seeing Venus in a darkening sky just after sunset, the track is taken from the forthcoming Samplehound album ‘Three of a Kind’.

At just under 4 minutes long, the experimental offering may be easy on the ears and remarkably spacious, but it indicates how hard it truly is to create a cinematic soundscape that will leave listeners stunned. Nevertheless, Samplehound does exactly that.

Creating the perfect balance of gripping you on your toes wondering where the next note will take listeners, the track also feels reassured and able to pick you up when you’re needing a boost.

Entering with a slow string section, the track evolves into a beautiful structure with delicate piano melodies to convey Venus’ beauty.

This feels like the sort of track you’d hear in a blockbuster scene when the main protagonist is reflecting on what makes them truly happy.

An artist that certainly could give Brian Eno a run for his money.
