WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM SERIAL CHILLER – HANDSOME DAD

Hull-based band Serial Chiller shares with us the perfect recipe to be a “Handsome Dad” in a new single release. This track is all about decoding the mysteries of being a cool dad while rocking blue Levi jeans and eating tofu burgers.

The three-piece slacker punk band is driven by bass and fuzzy guitar and “Handsome Dad” is no exception. The song brings us to a world full of blue Levi jeans, plaid shirts, tofu burgers, and backyard barbecues. With the inevitable existential musings on paying bills and navigating the modern world. Outside of the “cool dad” excuse, the song is about the highs and lows of life, both musically and lyrically. A life where the only thing to worry about is the hangover the following morning and the panic attack of going back to work the next day.

With its nods to 70s and 80s aesthetics, “Handsome Dad” transports listeners to a time when life was simpler yet no less perplexing.

Sure, the song might sound a bit repetitive and quite short (less than 2 minutes!) but that’s all part of the charm. With Serial Chiller’s tight basslines and pounding drums, you’ll be too busy grooving to care about anything else.
