Silva Lining return with their new single, Could We Have Made It Far. The band which is comprised of three generations of the Silva family, split between Lisbon and London, fuse their Portuguese roots and adopted English heritage to create a wonderfully unique sound.
As we’ve come to expect from them, this is a very cleverly written track. Their trademark mixture of the traditional and the modern are as present here as ever before. The alluring vocals which define their sound are again prominent, and are brilliantly complimented by the unmistakably Mediterranean overtones which flood their instrumentals.
Prolific creators, Could We Have Made It Far is one of almost thirty tracks which they have added to their catalogue since 2023. With such a high output it is easy to worry that they may run out of ideas and become stale. However, with such uniqueness in their sound and such a terrific talent for composition, they remain just as fresh as the first time you hear them.
If you haven’t heard their music before, this is a brilliant starting point. The mix of jazz, Mediterranean and soulful vocals make it hard to pigeon hole into a particular genre, and that is perhaps what makes it so exciting. All of that is on display in Could We Have Made It Far, and it is sure to make you want to go and explore more of their releases.
What Silva Lining have done again here is what they have done consistently. They don’t tent to offer anything hugely different from what we’ve heard before from them, but instead simply tweak parts of their established sound to keep it feeling new and exciting. Once again, they have made it work perfectly.
