WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM SINCLAIR – ‘KILLING FIELDS LIVE’
Sinclair, are a band who with their latest release ‘Killing Fields’ is utterly beyond belief and breaking musical expectations. This recording is so good that it becomes easy to forget that it’s actually a live recording of the track! It just doesn’t feel that way until you really hear the sounds of the audience at the end.
Every part of this performance seems expertly rehearsed and even more expertly performed. There is not one part of this track that falls out of place with another, rather all instrumental lines work extremely well alongside one another. The guitars are a perfect example of this, as one line plays that really chunky rhythm line with a huge tone; at the same time, a second guitar plays a similar motif using single notes underneath.
The drums really speak for themselves with how great they are, however, one notable part of this performance and indeed the whole band would be vocalist Oliver Crompton. A really unique and extraordinarily powerful voice that has absolutely no problems sticking out above the rest of the band. Quite remarkable.
In a Manchester scene that can be quite inundated with a lot of classic indie rock sounds, Sinclair appears to me to be a band that is making a difference with their sound. The wide range of influence which is cited by the band is something that becomes extremely apparent when listening to their music. ‘Killing Fields’ is a track beaming with life, performed by a band at the top of their game right now.
