SOPHIE NAGLIK - TWILIGHT ZONE

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM SOPHIE NAGLIK – TWILIGHT ZONE

Hailing from Reigate in Surrey, Sophie Naglik’s latest offering promises “whimsical passion” with elements of “power, emotion and mystery”

It’s very safe to say that Sophie has an incredible voice – and on first listen I said “this girl belongs on the stage, but in theatre’s too” – that was before I read she’d been in the likes of “Matilda the Musical”, “Back to the Future” and “Starlight Express” – so it’s clear that Sophie means business.

The track wastes no time in getting started, with these powerful vocals immediately kicking in and this twinkling instrumental seeping through, which I would say is whimsical from the get-go.

There are elements of electronica here, even if the softer side of the genre, which suits Sophie’s range of voice beautifully, thinking about it, Starlight Express definitely makes sense.

The lyrics have been crafted to feel raw emotion, appearing to reference a crush, feeling like that feeling of attraction or even love makes you feel like you’re in another world, the Twilight Zone if you like.

The vocals are consistent throughout the track, even when it slows down a bit towards the end, the lyrics were a tiny bit too repetitive, but ultimately it does work throughout the track.

It’s a bit more upbeat compared to the likes of Sophie’s previous tracks like “From a Distance” and “Fall for It All” in my opinion and whilst those tracks are beautiful, this upbeat, fun style really works for Sophie, whilst still keeping that powerful feminine energy which an injection of low-key clubland.

I could see this being played in Ibiza Rocks or Pacha in their sunset sessions (if they’re still a thing anyway!)

The artwork is simple but does the job, Sophie is pictured looking off camera (to a different dimension maybe?) in this purple aura and little stars around, simple but effective.

Overall a gorgeous track which shows off a different side to what Sophie can do and elevates her already impressive song catalogue – very well crafted!
