On the rise from the rich musical heart of Manchester is Stanleys – an excitingly fresh indie four piece. With an impressive discography of singles and EPs already under their belt, October saw the release of their latest tune I’ll Try.

One thing about Stanleys is their striking originality. In a genre as saturated as the indie landscape, these boys stand out with an upbeat but not overwhelming sound that’s cool and fitting for any occasion. You can dance to it, sing along with it, or simply chill out to it on a rainy day. Their new single is no outlier.
The song, coming in at just over three minutes, starts off with a refreshingly clean guitar line joined by lively drums and a characteristic bass line. Each part is perfectly balanced where not one overpowers the other. Again, this slick production separates Stanleys from so many intensely guitar-driven indie bands.
The theme of moving on from a past relationship is communicated with such clarity in the lyrics, digestible and relatable for most listeners. Moreover, the vocal melodies accentuated with memorable hooks make the words all the more impactful.
For the simplicity of this group’s line-up, they really know how to make it work. No embellishment is needed as their raw talent is enough to carry them through.
We can’t wait to see what Stanleys have in store for us, but until then, we’ll be streaming I’ll Try on repeat.
