Stanleys are from a long line of bands to emerge out of the northwest with such a rich history just in their hometown in Wigan alone. A band that’s fast on the rise with sold out tours and having support slots for several big names in their arsenal, Stanleys draw on their fellow Wigan peers to create relatable catchy tracks led by strong northern roots.
‘Pass The Time’ feels like an exciting song for a coming-of-age film soundtrack. The beeping that opens the song gives a more unique introduction and they take no time at all to launch straight into hefty vocals backed by progressive basslines. These basslines accompanied with growing guitars felt tied into this idea of growth as portrayed in the lyrics of the chorus.
The snappy chorus explores this idea of being younger but as you climb higher the more you realise and from that comes growth. The vocals bounce up and down in pitch which feels like the depiction of growth not being a steady increase but there may be bumps in the road such as the belief that the world could catch you or maybe a friend that wronged you.
The bridge exemplifies the eye in the storm to take a brief moment of reflection but with a gripping tension laced in the echoing drumbeats. The second and final choruses repeating whilst the first only being looped once is a clever choice to ensure that the chorus leaves a lasting memory and wants you coming back for more.
A short, simple and straight to the point track, Stanleys will definitely grab attention with ‘Pass The Time’ with a relatable thought process, flowing guitars and powerful drumbeats as they leave their mark on the northwestern scene and eventually the rest of the country.
