SUGAR SCARS

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM SUGAR SCARS – MISS U

Prepare yourself for adventure that feels like a smoldering summer evening spent straddling the gritty, culture-soaked streets of El Paso and the vibrant, life-infused avenues of Juarez. Sugar Scars, the dynamic duo with musical roots spanning the US-Mexico border, have birthed a gem with their latest single “Miss U”. A cultural amalgamation if you were.

From the get-go, “Miss U” doesn’t mess about it starts with a bang.

The vocals are constant throughout resting neatly above the instrumentation. The production and musicallity is constant and quite dancy, which was a nice surprise. There’s a good balance between the different elements – guitars, drums, vocals – everything has its place.

No track is perfect, and Sugar Scars can definitely push their sound further. Firstly, while the song’s nostalgic vibe is charming, there are moments where it feels a bit too safe and similar, the song does seem to stay constant. The chorus, though catchy, could benefit from a more dynamic lift.

In short, if you haven’t yet experienced the musical fusion of Sugar Scars, do yourself a favor and dive into “Miss U”. A border worth crossing, and a song worth adding to your playlist.
