Hailing from London, SUPERSAURUS are an alt-pop indie four-piece that have been releasing since 2022. Known for their ‘sad-pop’ style, blending emotionally charged lyrics with catchy melodies, they are inspired and influenced by bands such as MUNA and The 1975. As a queer-led group, their songs delve into the isolation and chaos of growing up as a part of the LGBTQIA+ community within a heteronormative society.
Their latest single ‘Sunflower’, is an emotive track, reflective and vulnerable, while retaining a pop sound inspired by synths and stylings typical of the 80s. The song features strong synths and punchy percussion which propel the track forward, preventing it from feeling overly somber despite its introspective nature.
While the track is rich and layered, the way the track is mixed leaves it feeling slightly vacant, the layers of instrumentation at times distracting from the vocals. That being said, the emotional rawness of the track still shines through, with lyrics echoing themes of longing and isolation.
SUPERSAURUS have already amassed successes across the UK, with a number of singles featuring on radio shows such as BBC Radio 1’s Introducing Rock to their single ‘Safe’ being featured on the Made In Chelsea television series, building momentum within the mainstream space, with ‘Sunflower’ becoming the newest noteworthy addition to the group’s resonant and interesting catalog.
