The Cases are one of the fastest growing bands on the indie scene, everyone’s talking about them and it’s easy to see why. They have accomplished so much just within the last two years with several festival appearances, support slots for other high profile bands in the scene like The Cavs, Rolla and The Lilacs, a sell out on their first ever headline run and with an even bigger run scheduled across all circuits this year The Cases are something special to behold.
A band already of their calibre but with no album or E.P. but fear not because their debut E.P. Mr Penny is on its way with title track ‘Mr Penny’ and now ‘The Curse’ already out to enjoy. Another thing these lads do well is social media, they know how to build up anticipation because if you’ve been following closely, they’ve been playing snippets of these tracks for months prior to the E.P. announcement and that’s what makes it all the more exciting.
‘The Curse’ takes on a more relaxed approach to open the track with dreamy guitars and slow vocals before the classic Cases riffs and energetic drums kick back in. Vocals from Harry Hornsby are distinct with a strong northern tone with layered backing vocals from James Maher paired with the exciting guitar and drum riffs to bring the band together into a clean professional sound across the track. This is a bouncing track that will perform well across their tour with a subtle guitar solo and one last triumphant chorus that is brought to an abrupt close.
‘The Curse’ is another in a long line of high-quality offerings from The Cases and does its job to build up even more hype as they gear up for the full release of Mr Penny and another load of festival appearances this summer.
