THE DEAD KING COMPANY

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM THE DEAD KING COMPANY

Less than a month after their banger of a single, Liverpool’s The Dead King Company are back with another tune.

More of a mellow tune, Through The Day begins with acoustic guitar backed by subtle strings and muted drums. A delicate guitar motif tops off the introduction before melting into the verse.

The singer’s emotive vocals of reflective words instantly elevate the song as he pulls smooth phrases from the verse into the chorus; I’ve been praying but I don’t feel a thing at all/and I’ve been trying lately just to make it through the day.

Some very slight backing vocals can be heard in the distance, echoing the melodies yet not distracting from the lead singer’s rawness.

It repeats in this verse-chorus cycle until roughly a minute and a half in when the electric guitar from the intro returns for a longer solo interlude. The tone carries a depth that feels whole and woeful, reflecting the overall sound.

Shortly after, there’s a candid string of spoken words that sound like a diary entry; unfiltered rantings and truths that carve out the band’s intention with this tune. It’s about simply trying to get to tomorrow.
