THE DEAD REDS - EMPIRE

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM THE DEAD REDS – EMPIRE

Only a couple of weeks into 2026 and there are already plenty of amazing tracks to sink your teeth into. And one to add to that list would be The Dead Reds new single, Empire.

Empire has what can only be described as a classic rock opening, with the repetitive guitar riff and drum that joins gradually until we get the full sound. Once that beat has kicked in, the general energy and tone is created and it’s incredibly infectious. It will have you grooving from the first second right up until the last.

That rock sound you initially begin with morphs into a song with a country twang, really leaning into the bluesy vibe that the band have based their image around. It’s unique and original, a refreshing composition that grabs listeners just by being something a bit different, but also by being very very good.

If you aren’t drawn in by the brilliant opening, you will be by the vocals on the track. Smoother than honey, there’s an addictive quality that just draws your attention. They are especially noteworthy when contrasted to the instrumentation which is crunchy and bold. An unlikely pairing but one that works perfectly.

When the instrumental section comes in, you will definitely have been convinced of the quality of Empire. Not only does it break the track up and define the structure of the song even clearer, it gives The Dead Reds’ guitarist a chance to show off genuine skill. It’s done so in a way that doesn’t sacrifice the country sound in any way though, keeping that identity firmly in place.

Despite having EPs and a collection of singles across their career, The Dead Reds are yet to release their first full length album. However, fear not, as their debut album will be out later this year. This is simply a little tease as to what they have in store in 2026, as it looks like it will shape up to be a big year for the band.
