THE FALLS

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM THE FALLS – OPEN FIRE

Indie-rock quartet The Falls released their catchy, high-energy track Open Fire (2026).

The Falls have been selling out shows across their hometown of Manchester with their infectious guitar hooks and sincere lyricism. After recently smashing their biggest show yet at the iconic Manchester Academy in February, they’re ready to prove that the only way is up with their first release of the year.

Dropping on April 10th via Revo Pro, the single opens with explosive percussion and roaring guitar and bass melodies, giving a quick taste of the chorus. Stripping back the noise for the first verse, the frontman shares resonant lyrics detailing the unnerving feeling of losing control. The band uses ‘Open fire’ as a metaphor for being shot at emotionally, and recognising when to step away and reflect on yourself- an important message from the young band.

As the chorus hits, the single is injected with intensity as those hard-hitting drums and guitar rips return with a vengeance. The chorus line “Step out into open fire, don’t think twice cos you ain’t got time to“  becomes an instant catchy hook, which I can easily envision packed-out crowds moshing and chanting along to. The band have already cited the track as a live fan favourite pre-release.

For The Falls, their explosive energy is only set to expand. The band’s November headline show in Manchester’s Gullivers sold out within a day, calling for a second show date at The Castle Hotel. Their recent EP Viva La Falls (2025) saw upwards of 100,000 streams.

With Open Fire, The Falls lean into a rough-edged urgency that gives the song a sense of danger as well as catchiness. That balance between melody and grit is what makes the single feel bigger than a standard indie release. Building upon their EP release, it explains why the band are building such a strong following in Manchester. I can definitely see them spreading across the country in the same way soon. Catch them on their EP tour towards the end of this year.
