Blackburn Indie four-piece The Lavelles have released their latest offering “Keep On Coming” – following their previous singles “Overseas” and “Reputation”.
It seems that The Lavelles are making their mark on the local indie scene, and building an impressive fanbase as they grow too, especially at their hometown club of Blackburn Rovers.
“Keep On Coming” starts with some gorgeous, almost enchanting guitar twangs, which admittedly was a bit of a hook but I needed to hear more.
It doesn’t take long though, as then this drum beat kicks in and lays the foundation for the vocals to come in and whilst the vocals aren’t what I expected (not in a bad way), they all work together beautifully and build a track that is somewhat whimsical, but pretty catchy too, I was tapping my foot less than a minute in.
The backing vocals should get a special mention too, not only are they subtle and melodic, they add a lot to the track whilst being part of the background.
I didn’t really notice it until the second listen, but the mood and tempo of the track does really elevate into an anthem-like status and this is how you do it, you don’t realise it immediately, you just go along with it and feel it.
It did feel like the track could have been longer, but that’s not a criticism, I was just enjoying it too much, but I guess that’s what the repeat button is for.
Overall, it’s got incredible musicianship from all of the band, they work together brilliantly, with nothing overpowering the other, the drum beat and backing vocals in particular just add the perfect amount of flair necessary.
The vocals are stunning and the right sort of feel for the track, I do want to hear more though, so I’ll be going back and looking at the other music The Lavelles have to offer, they’re definitely one to keep an eye on.
